Day 1 Stumps

Pakistan have dominated the first day's play as pink ball Test reached Asia, via Dubai. Openers Sami Aslam and Azhar Ali toyed with a listless Windies attack to post a 215-run stand. Sami missed his maiden Test ton by 10 runs, while Azhar got his 11th ton, and is unbeaten.

Over 80 || Score 249/1 (Azhar Ali 135; Asad Shafiq 15)

Pakistan another 30 runs in the last ten overs even as West Indies took the second new PINK ball. Azhar Ali is going strong, on 135 off 236 balls, with the help of 14 fours.

Asad Shafiq on 15, is giving perfect company to his partner.

Not much to write home for the Windies. The struggle continues, at least for another ten overs today.

Finally a wicket for West Indies, thanks to Roston Chase. He removed Sami Aslam in the 68th over, off the fifth ball, BOWLED.

But, it was too little too late for them. Pakistan have already crossed 200-run mark, that too in a good rate.

Aslam missed his maiden Test ton by 10 runs. His opening partner Azhar Ali however had no such heartbreak. Ali got his 11th Test hundred.

Dinner!

Azhar Ali increased the tempo, and outscored his opening partner Sami Aslam as teams go to dinner at Dubai.

West Indies continued to search for their first breakthrough, but the six bowlers used by Jason Holder have no clue.

Over 50 || Score 157/0 (Sami Aslam 70; Azhar Ali 79)

Pakistan openers continue to plunder listless West Indies bowlers. Both Aslam and Ali are approaching their respective hundreds, and it looks eminent.

So far, Aslam has faced 156 balls, and hit eight fours, while Ali has faced 149 balls. He also hit eight fours.

Over 35 || Score 101/0 (Sami Aslam 51*; Azhar Ali 44*)

Fifty up for Sami Aslam and hundred for Pakistan. West Indies though lost their first review in 28th over, when Jason Holder caught Azhar Ali on the shuffle and appealed for an LBW. There was no inside edge but ball was slipping down the leg side. Good call by umpire Reiffel.

Over 27 || Score 81/0 (Sami Aslam 37*; Azhar Ali 38*)

That's TEA.

Excellent batting from Pakistani openers, first session of the day-night Test match belonged to them. West Indies looked clueless in their bowling attack, they have already used 6 bowlers in first 20 overs and yet to break the opening stand for the hosts.

Over 20 || Score 62/0 (Sami Aslam 29*; Azhar Ali 27*)

Solid start from Pakistan with openers Sami Aslam and Azhar Ali already posting 62 runs. Aslam, playing only his fifth Test, looked impressive and has so far hit for fours.

Over 10 || Score 24/0 (Aslam 10*; Azhar 13*)

The new pink ball hasn't done much yet, as West Indies bowlers are not keeping it full enough. Azhar edged one off Gabriel bowling and it fell short of slip cordon in the second over of the innings. Ali has survived one more nervy moment in the middle, when he tried to flick the ball but changed his shot at the last moment.

The real test for batsman and bowlers will begin at night, when dew comes in to make the ball wet.

Pakistan (Playing XI): Sami, Azhar, Babar, Misbah (c), Asad, Sarfraz (w/k), Nawaz, Wahab, Yasir, Amir, Sohail Khan

West Indies (Playing XI): K Brathwaite, Johnson, Bravo, Samuels, Blackwood, Chase, Dowrich (w/k), Holder (c), Bishoo, Cummins, Gabriel

After a memorable show in the recently concluded ODI series, Babar Azam has been given the chance to make his Test debut.

TOSS: Misbah won the toss and decided to bat first in Asia's first day-night Test.

Misbah and his men would be brimming with confidence after drawing four-match series 2-2 against England on their home soil. The team clicked as a unit and since the matches are being played in Dubai, which is a home series for Pakistan, the hosts are likely to have the advantage.
